Minding Your Business: Seaview Properties

“We are excited for spring,” Seaview Properties owner Steve Poskanzer said recently. “We just continue to grow and to do fun jobs for fun people!”

Who wouldn’t want a crew with that positive, upbeat mindset working on their home projects and landscaping needs? In business for more than 20 years, Poskanzer prides himself on his dedication to the community and hard work behind every project. He moved his family from Marblehead to Chatham two decades ago and never looked back. 

“We started out in 2004 essentially buying and selling and flipping houses in Chatham,” Poskanzer said. “We actually started Seaview Properties as a property management company, and since I had my builders license we were going to also do carpentry and small jobs. Over the past 20 years I have gotten to know a lot of people, which is great.”

Over time, Seaview Properties morphed into offering landscaping services and can be seen around the Lower Cape cutting over a hundred lawns a week. 

Dependability and trustworthiness are two key ways to describe Poskanzer and the team at Seaview. Even with the recent blizzard, Poskanzer and his crew were out fielding issues left and right for their clients.

“We did a lot of different things for people with this past storm, from plowing them out to turning off their water to emptying their refrigerators,” he said. “There’s a lot of different things we do for people all the time.”

Poskanzer describes himself as a “bit of a control freak,” but in the best possible ways. “You know, when I say we’re gonna be there on a Tuesday, we will be there on the Tuesday. Everyone has to use subcontractors, of course, we aren't all electricians or plumbers or other trades we just can’t do. But we will always be reliable for our clientele,” he said.

Poskanzer found that the building side of the business was growing so much that he needed to bring someone else on board to manage the division. Kyle Smith joined the team earlier this year as senior project manager in the building division to help manage and grow this end of the company.

“Steve is such an experienced builder and the company has grown so much with him at the helm,” Smith said. “I bring over 12 years of carpentry experience prior to being a project manager in Chatham and the surrounding towns for the past several years. Now we have additional capacity to handle all manners of building projects, from new homes to remodels and renovations for our existing and new customers as well.”

The services offered on the building side are countless and include work like renovations, new construction, general contracting, additions, custom carpentry, kitchen and bathroom remodeling, built-ins and walk-ins, basement refinishing, flooring, siding, shingles, decks and outdoor shower installation.
