Cynthia Jane Chase
March 18, 2026
It is with the utmost sorrow that we announce the passing of beloved Cynthia Jane Chase of West Harwich, who passed away suddenly at her home on the evening of Saturday, March 7, 2026.
Cynthia was the daughter of the late Robert J. Chase and Jane Reynolds Chase. She leaves behind her four children: Evan, Megan (Ryan), Carly (John and his daughter Aubrey), and Cody; five siblings: Melinda, Kevin, Bradford (Donna), Jennifer, and Daniel; Two grandchildren: Hunter, and Cora; five grand-dogs: Bailey, Masha, Oscar, Jake, and Boon; eleven nieces and nephews: Emily, Jenna, Kati Rose, Kelly, Caleb, Jason, Kathryn, Ryan, Sam, Ben, and Parker; and ten great-nieces and nephews: Elliott, Jeremy, Christopher, Violet, Ethan, Cameron, Rose, Noah, Jordan, and Blake.
Cynthia, some called her “Chin,” was born in Hyannis on April 1, 1964, and spent her entire life on Cape Cod. As a child, she cared for her chickens, rabbits, ducks, horses, Zegan the goat, the family dog Jessica, and Zephyr the cat. Some of her favorite activities included swimming, hiking, running like the wind, and singing her heart out. She regularly attended local karaoke nights, where she earned the nickname “The Karaoke Queen.”
Always a creative soul, Cynthia took up floral design as a young adult. With more than 30 years in the business, flowers became a central part of her life. She created countless beautiful arrangements for holidays, funerals, and celebrations. A special time in her career was spent working with Patrice R. Milley Floral Designs.
Her home in West Harwich was adorned with fresh flowers in the bathrooms, many garden beds and indoor potted plants, hand-painted walls with flowers, and frog statues in many of the rooms. In recent years, Cynthia happily spent her days with her children, grandchildren, and her cat, Luna. Weekend dinners together were a staple in her home, and always loved spending time with Hunter and Cora, who lovingly called her “Grumma.”
Many Friday evenings were spent unwinding with her sister Jennifer, who lived just a minute away, and close friends Beth, Mary, Joanie, and Elizabeth. These precious nights were filled with laughter, wine, music, dancing, and good food.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Chapman Funerals & Cremations, Blute Chapel, 678 Main St. Ext., Harwich Center. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at The First Congregational Church UCC of Harwich, 697 Main St., Harwich Center. Graveside service at Island Pond Cemetery to follow, where she will be laid to rest alongside both of her parents.
