Henry Edward Davidson Jr.
April 15, 2026
Harwich Port - Ed Davidson, whose outsized, unforgettable presence left a lasting impression on all who knew him, left us on April 2, 2026. He lived a life rooted in devotion to his family and found great joy in sharing time, recipes, and laughter with his many close friends.
Ed dedicated his career to stewarding and further developing Davidson Management, a real estate management company established by his father and grandfather, while also owning and operating two manufacturing businesses, Babcock Davis Hatchways and Boston Metal Door. Over the years, he brought his relentless work ethic to other endeavors, including residential and commercial development, as well as volunteerism. He devoted significant time and energy to his many roles at Allen Harbor Yacht Club, both official and unofficial. A member since the Club’s founding in 1961, he served as commodore from 1988 to 1989.
Ed lived a long and full life alongside the love of his life, MaryAnn. Together, they raised four daughters in Weston, Massachusetts, and cherished summers in Harwich Port, where they first met as teenagers. Ed shared with his family his love of boating and he filled their days cruising Nantucket Sound. Ed and MaryAnn made many trips on their boat from Cape Cod to Florida. Friends sometimes joined them, though rarely more than once. Through every adventure, they forged lasting memories, with MaryAnn - the Navigator - always by his side.
Ed was lovingly welcomed by those who predeceased him - his parents, Henry E. Davidson Sr. and Lillian Adams Davidson, and his sisters, Ruth and Isabel “Bunny” Davidson. He leaves behind a wide circle of family and friends who will deeply miss his presence at the helm. Among those are his devoted wife of 55 years, MaryAnn (Vercollone) Davidson, and his four daughters and sons-in-law: Megan and Chris Bloch, Jennifer Davidson and Brian Jardeleza, Melissa and Rick Vallarelli, Abby and Carter Knight; and his eleven wonderful grandchildren, who brought him endless pride and joy.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 16 at 11:00am, Pilgrim Congregational Church in Harwich Port, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hands and Hearts Hospice, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute or the Family Pantry of Harwich Port.
Notes of comfort may be made to his family at www.chapmanfuneral.com
