Police: Pedestrian Struck By Vehicle Has Died
CHATHAM -- Police report that a person struck by a vehicle on Main Street in West Chatham Saturday morning has died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The collision happened just before 8 a.m. Sunday on Route 28 near Crosby Lane, about three-tenths of a mile west of the George Ryder Road intersection.
The pedestrian was seriously injured in the crash and was airlifted to a Boston trauma center for treatment, but succumbed to the injuries on Tuesday. Officials declined to provide the name of the victim or any additional details Wednesday, citing their ongoing investigation. Police announced the death in a social media post Wednesday.
"The police department is saddened to learn that the Chatham resident involved in this past weekend's motor vehicle crash has passed away. Our thoughts are with the residents' family during this difficult time."
