Elizabeth Stevens

October 14, 2026

Elizabeth (Betsey) Stevens passed away on October 8, 2026.  Betsey was born on January 10, 1932 to Newton and Edna Borgerson in Woodbridge, CT.  She went to school and lived in Woodbridge until attending Colby Jr. College and Dartmouth in NH.  After graduating she worked as a medical technologist and met her future husband (Donald Stevens) on a blind date.  They raised 4 children and enjoyed more than 62 years together.  Once the children were settled into school, Betsey went back to work as a medical technologist and then transitioned to a job with Planned Parenthood as an outreach coordinator.
Betsey loved working with people and found many opportunities to volunteer in the New Haven area and in Chatham, MA where she and Don retired.  In addition to being involved in their community, Betsey and Don traveled all over the US and much of the world.  They camped in Mexico and went on Safari in Africa in addition to experiencing many other adventures.
Even as her mind and body declined, Betsey always had an interest in people and what they had to say.  She would always ask “How are you?” (sometimes more than once) and really listened to your reply.  Gathering with friends and family, outside if possible, was a highlight of her day.
Betsey was predeceased by her husband, Don and her daughter, Lauren (Bolen).  She is survived by two daughters, Lisa Cantu and Tracey Richard (Blane) and her son, Todd as well as 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, her brother, Skip, sister-in-law, Gerry, and nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a private memorial.  Donations in Betsey’s memory may be made to Planned Parenthood of CT or The Chatham Historical Society, Chatham, MA.
