HARWICH – Nearly 100 middle school cross country runners from eight different local schools competed Monday in an all-Cape meet hosted by Monomoy Regional High School.

Teams from Monomoy, Falmouth, Dennis-Yarmouth, Nauset, Barnstable, Lighthouse Charter, Nantucket and St. John Paul II competed.

Runners completed a 1.5-mile course through the Monomoy campus. The all-Cape meet, which has been held at Dennis-Yarmouth and Nauset in recent years, is the culmination of the middle school cross country season.

Lighthouse Charter won the girls event as a team, even after number-one runner Olive Perkins got tripped up mid-race and did not finish. The Lightkeepers took the race with 49 points to runner-up Nauset’s 56. It was the Lighthouse Charter’s first all-Cape meet win.
