Filming "Mermaid"

 

 Filming of the movie “Mermaid” in Harwich is scheduled to conclude this week. Director Fia Perera said she is very pleased with having chosen Harwich as a location to shoot the movie, praising the work of the actors and crew but also the cooperation from the community.

“Mermaid” tells the story of a 10-year-old boy, who desperately wants to be a mermaid and crosses paths with a grief-stricken drag queen. In the end, through this relationship, the boy’s father can accept and see his child for who they truly are, according to Perera. 

Shooting was to take place in several locations, including Harwich Port, Saquatucket Harbor, South Harwich, East Harwich, Monomoy Regional High School and the community center, before the production wraps up over the weekend.
