HARWICH – After leading the Cape Cod Tech girls lacrosse team during 7-on-7 competition in recent years, junior Madison Baran is eager to help guide the Crusaders through a new era.
Baran provided a spark on Monday afternoon when she netted her first goal of the season during the team’s 11-3 loss to Tri-County.
The game marked the first varsity girls lacrosse game in school history.
“It’s really exciting,” said Baran, an Osterville resident. “Most of the players are freshmen and more than half the team has never played before, so it’s nice to see a lot of people trying new things and having the want to do it.”
Although the Crusaders struggled to generate scoring chances throughout their debut, Baran produced one of the team’s best highlights when she intercepted a pass in front of the Tri-County goal before firing a shot into the net.
“It was a struggle [to score], but it was nice to have it come off an interception,” she said. “That felt nice.”
